Rodent Management Operations

IPM (Integrated Pest Management) City Facilities Only

· Includes inspection, identification, establishment of action thresholds, control measures (chemical and mechanical), and evaluation of effectiveness.

Inspectors prepare detailed analysis report, map and pictures of infestation, and make recommendations following an IPM inspection.  Inspections are not responsible for carrying out recommendations.

 

 

 

Area Wide Treatment

· Based on the number and severity of rodent service request.

· Treatment includes all storm drains in established problem area.  A follow-up determines effectiveness by analyzing consumption and mold.

Areas treated Include: New Orleans East, Lakeview, Algiers, Up-town, Bywater, 9th Ward, Carrollton, Gentilly, Mid-City, French Quarter

 

Rodent Service Request

· Certified rodent inspectors inspect and treat private property as needed by citizens requesting a perimeter inspection.

· Inspectors look for rodent activity, burrows, and other known signs of an infestation.

· Burrows are spot treated with rodenticide and recommendations are made to property owners.

· Strom drains are always treated with a rodenticide bait blocks.

· Inspectors do not treat inside homes or give away rodenticide bait, however bait recommendations are given.

Inspectors do not treat abandoned property, but will treat storm drains surrounding property.

 

 

 

New Orleans Public Schools

All storm drains around public schools and surrounding areas are treated to eliminate the potential of rodent infestations in the surrounding neighborhood.

 

French Quarter

All storm drains in the French Quarter are treated with rodenticide bait blocks twice per year or as needed.

 

CBD and Warehouse District

All storm drains are treated with rodenticide bait blocks once per year or as needed.

 

1st of the Month (City Facilities Only and Public Parks)

Treatment of burrows with rodenticide and replenishment if rodenticide bait in established bait stations are conducted at the first of each month.

 

Ant Treatment

Ant mounds are treated on the neutral ground along the Mardi Gras Parade routes; including, St. Charles to Lee Circle and Orleans Ave to N. Carrollton Ave, and other areas as needed.
